Why We Wrote a Second Document

The Hangover Pack answers a different question.

That one is four days, hour by hour — where the group is at two in the afternoon and where it is at two in the morning. It is the itinerary document, and it is the one a best man reads the week before.

The pack you are reading about here is the one he reads three months earlier, when the question is still "what does this actually cost, and how do we make a decision as twelve men who all want something different".

Those are different jobs and they wanted different documents.

The Four Tiers, and What Each One Buys

Four tiers, all group prices, VAT inside, nothing per person.

Silver at ฿100,000 is one night, a small party room, six entertainment staff. It suits a group of six to ten who want one proper night rather than a whole programme.

Gold at ฿200,000 is two nights and a party suite with ten entertainment staff. This is the tier most groups of ten to fourteen land on, because it gives the night a pre-party and a finale instead of one long stretch.

Platinum at ฿300,000 is three nights, the party suite, a ten-bottle package and twenty-five entertainment staff. Fourteen to twenty men.

Diamond at ฿450,000 is four nights, the same headline night, plus a six-hour pool party. Sixteen to thirty men.

Headcount Changes the Logistics Before It Changes the Price

This is the part groups get wrong on the first call.

Six to ten men fit one van, one villa and one table. Over eight and you are into a second vehicle, whatever the price list says. Over twenty and the venue choice narrows, because the number of rooms in Bangkok that comfortably hold a loud group of twenty-five after midnight is small.

So the first two questions we ask are the dates and the headcount, in that order, and the pack explains why the second one moves more than people expect.

Where the Group Sleeps

Two honest options, and the pack does not pretend either one wins.

A party-allowed villa is the only choice that lets the party be loud at two in the morning, with a pool and a terrace that belong to the group for the night. It is out of the centre, which is a cost in taxi time.

A hotel suite keeps everybody central and walkable, which suits a trip where half the group is arriving on different flights and nobody wants to coordinate a convoy.

Groups that want both put the villa on the party night and the hotel on the rest of the trip, and that is usually the right answer for four nights.

The Daytime Half Nobody Budgets For

A bachelor party in Bangkok is not an evening. It is a day that ends late.

The pack gives two shapes for the daylight half. A villa pool from lunchtime with hosts and a sound system, which is the best first thing for a group that has just landed and is still in flight clothes. Or the river — three hours on the Chao Phraya, crew and catering, finishing twenty minutes from a club table.

Skip the daytime and the group starts drinking at nine in a hotel bar. That is the single most common way a first night goes flat.

The Night, in Order

Dinner at eight. A rooftop at nine. A club table at eleven. A private room from one.

That order exists because a group of twelve moves at about half the speed one man expects, and because each of those venues wants the group at a different time to be at its best. Push the whole night an hour later and every stage of it is more crowded and slower.

The Five Things to Agree Before You Fly

Who is paying, and how the group settles up afterwards. One name on the booking. The one night everybody has to be out for. Who is not drinking. Who has a flight at six in the morning.

Settle those five in the group chat and the trip runs itself. Leave them and they get argued about in the back of a van at midnight, which is the most expensive place in Bangkok to have an argument.

The best man, and the one other man in the group who is actually going to reply to messages.

At the club, a VIP zone carries a minimum spend rather than a ticket price, and in practice runs ฿30,000 to ฿300,000 by venue and by night. At our signature venue the club publishes room rentals from ฿3,500 to ฿15,000 for the night, a ฿3,000 per person minimum spend on food and drink for non-members, a liquor package at ฿20,000 and bottles from ฿6,000 — those are the venue's own figures, confirmed with the venue.

Nothing in the pack is invented for it. If a figure is not already published, it is not in there.

The Timings the Pack Argues For

Lunchtime for the pool or the river. Eight in the evening for dinner. Nine for a rooftop. Eleven for the club table. One in the morning for the private room.

A group of twelve moves at about half the speed one man expects, so two venues in the first three hours is a comfortable night and four is a night nobody remembers. Push the whole thing an hour later and every stage of it is busier and slower.

That order is not a preference. It is what the venues are best at, at those hours, for a group that size.
