The Islands, and How Far Out They Are
Pattaya sits in front of a chain of Gulf islands. The inner ones are twenty minutes away, the outer ones an hour, and the water gets better the further you go.

There is a small park fee a person at Koh Phai, and it goes on the invoice with everything else.
How the Day Actually Runs
Leave Bangkok at 07:30, board at 10:00, and the first anchorage is Koh Sak while the water is still calm and nobody else is there.
Koh Larn next for the beach hour, then the long leg out to Koh Phai — an hour with the sound system up, which is half the point of a charter.
Lunch is on board at anchor. Back alongside by late afternoon, in Bangkok around eight, and the night in the city is still ahead of you.
The one thing we argue about: do not put the sea day on the morning after the biggest night. Nine people out of fourteen board, and the boat costs the same.
The Detail
When to Go
The Gulf works all year off Pattaya, and it is at its best from November to April.
December to February is peak on both coasts and the better boats are gone eight weeks out. Four weeks is comfortable outside that.
Fill the Boat
The charter is priced by the boat, not by the head, so the cost per man halves between eight people and sixteen on the same day.
Twelve to twenty fits the common sizes. Above twenty the choice narrows and the price per head stops improving.
Getting There
A private van from Bangkok is from ฿9,000, and it waits at the marina rather than going back without you.
A helicopter charter from Bangkok is from ฿240,000, VAT included, and turns two hours of motorway into twenty-five minutes.
Most often the day sits in the middle of a Bangkok-and-Pattaya trip, with the party days in the city at either end.
What Is on the Boat and What Is Not
The boat and crew for the agreed hours, catering and bar to the standard you choose, and transfers at the marina end.
Ice, soft drinks, beer, spirits and a cooked lunch come in at ฿2,400 a person.
A speaker system is standard. Bring the playlist.
Not on board: jet skis, unless the boat carries them, and a second bar run once you have left the marina.
The River Instead
If the trip has no spare day, a three-hour private boat on the Chao Phraya starts at ฿48,000 for sixteen people, and there is no travel day in it at all.
Why Pattaya and Not Phuket?
Because the trip is based in Bangkok. Pattaya is a two-hour drive, the boat is yours for eight hours, and you sleep in the city the same night. Phuket is a flight, so it is a leg of the trip rather than a day out of it.

The captain decides and his decision stands. Charters are moved to another day or refunded under the operator's terms, which you get in writing before you book.
