Where the Day Goes
Charters leave from the marinas on the east side of the island, and the route is the real decision — not the boat.

National park fees are from ฿400 a person where they apply, and crew tips are yours to decide.
How the Day Actually Runs
Board at eight or nine, depending on how far you are going, with the safety briefing alongside before the engines are up.
The first stop is early on purpose: the bays that matter are empty until the tour boats arrive at half past nine.
Lunch is on board at anchor, the afternoon is a swim stop and the transit home, and the light on the karsts at four is the photograph everyone keeps.
If Koh Hong is on the route, the lagoon has a tide window of two or three hours. A captain who knows the bay builds the whole day around it.

When to Go
November to April on this coast. Outside that the monsoon decides, not you.
December to February is peak and the better boats are gone eight weeks out. Four weeks is comfortable either side of it.
Fill the Boat
The charter is priced by the boat, not by the head, so the cost per man halves between eight people and sixteen on the same day.
Twelve to twenty fits the common sizes. Above twenty the choice narrows and the price per head stops improving.
What Is on the Boat and What Is Not
The boat and crew for the agreed hours, catering and bar to the standard you choose, and transfers at the marina end.
Ice, soft drinks, beer, spirits and a cooked lunch come in at ฿2,400 a person.
A speaker system is standard. Bring the playlist.
Not on board: jet skis, unless the boat carries them, and a second bar run once you have left the marina.
Where the Sea Day Sits in the Trip
Not the morning after the biggest party. We have watched nine people out of fourteen board a Phuket charter, and the boat cost the same as it would have with all of them enjoying it.
On a three-day Bangkok trip we will not sell you this day at all — take the Pattaya charter or the river.

Is Phuket Worth the Flight?
On a trip of four days or more, yes. The water and the choice of boats are better than anything on the Gulf, and Phang Nga Bay is the reason people talk about the day for a decade. On a three-day trip to Bangkok, take Pattaya instead.

When Is the Season?
November to April on the Andaman. May to October is the other monsoon, and it is the wrong side of the country for a charter — the Gulf off Pattaya is the better call then.
What Happens If the Sea Is Rough?
The captain decides and his decision stands. Charters are moved to another day or refunded under the operator's terms, which you get in writing before you book.
