Neon, music from every bar, clubs and a crowd that goes until late.

It is loud, busy and a lot of fun for a group.

The trick is to do it properly: a car drops you at the top, you know exactly where you're heading, and the car is waiting when you're done.

When to come, and how to book

Come between November and April. The sea is calm, the sun is out and every yacht is running.

December to February is peak season, so book eight to ten weeks ahead.

May to October is rainy on the west coast, with rougher seas. Villas are cheaper, but yacht days are not guaranteed.

The smart plan for most groups: two or three days in Bangkok, then two in Phuket.

Flights between Bangkok and Phuket run all day, so you pick the time that suits the group.
