Your First Night at The PIMP

Most groups walk into The PIMP knowing nothing about how the room works.

That is fine on your own. With fourteen men it costs you the first hour of the night.

So here is the whole thing in order — walking in, the floor, the rooms, the people, the bill — with the venue's own prices, so nobody is standing at a door doing arithmetic.

Walking In

It is on RCA, and it has been at the same address since it opened on 16 March 2011.

There is no list and no velvet rope. You walk in, someone meets you, and you say how many you are.

That last part matters more than anything else in this article. A group of four is seated. A group of fourteen that arrives unannounced at one in the morning is a problem the room has to solve while you stand there.

Say the number in advance and it is solved before you arrive.

The Live Floor

Three bands a night, from ten until late. Thai and international, songs you know and rock you do not.

The stage sits in the middle of the room rather than at the end of it, so the tables closest to it are the good ones, not the expensive ones. Hosts move between the tables all evening.

This is the part most first-timers do not expect. It is a live music club with a private half, not a bar with a band in the corner.

Cosplay Weekends

Every weekend carries a theme and the costumes commit to it, with the venue's own show troupe performing between the band sets.

If your group has one night and can choose which, choose a Friday or a Saturday.

Table, Sofa, or Room

Three ways to sit, and they are not the same night.

A table is the floor. Close to the stage, in the middle of the room, the crowd around you. Right for six or eight men who want the band.

A VIP sofa is the biggest seating in the club, set back from the floor. The harem sofa has curtains you can close.

A private room is a door that shuts. Your own DJ, karaoke, a pool table and a jacuzzi in each, and Party Room 4 has its own dance floor and stage lighting. Four party rooms, five smaller VIP rooms, and the pool zone.

For a stag group of twelve or more, the room is the answer. Not because the floor is worse, but because twelve men on a floor at one in the morning are not twelve men in the same conversation.

What It Costs

The venue's own figures, confirmed with the venue. Not ours, not marked up.

A private room is ฿3,500 to ฿15,000 for the whole night, depending on the room — the small VIP at the bottom, the pool zone that holds a hundred and fifty at the top. Room by room, with capacities: every room, rental by rental.

Non-members carry a minimum spend of ฿3,000 a person on food and drink. That is spend, not a fee — it is money you were going to put over the bar anyway.

The liquor package is ฿20,000. Bottles on the table start at ฿6,000. A model or host at the table is from ฿2,000 for the first hour.

The venue also publishes three bachelor packages of its own, from ฿71,500 to ฿232,000 — the venue's own bachelor packages.

A room rental is rent. What the group drinks lands on the venue's bill on the night, and a group of twelve that splits fourteen ways at four in the morning is the one avoidable disaster of the evening. Decide who is holding the room before you sit down.

The Models and the Hosts

They are staff, they are paid by the hour, and the first hour starts at ฿2,000.

What that buys is company at your table — someone who keeps the round moving, talks to the bachelor, and makes a group of men sitting in a room feel like a party rather than a meeting.

It is booked at the table or in advance. In a private room it is arranged before you arrive, which is the better way, because nobody wants to negotiate anything in the first ten minutes of their own party.

What the Bill Looks Like at the End

This is where first nights go wrong, and it has nothing to do with the venue.

A room, a liquor package and a few bottles is a known number before you sit down. The room is ฿3,500 to ฿15,000. The liquor package is ฿20,000. Bottles from ฿6,000. The ฿3,000 a person minimum is counted against what the group spends, not added on top of it.

So a group of twelve in a party room, on the package, with a couple of bottles, is arithmetic you can do in the taxi on the way there.

What breaks it is fourteen men paying separately. Fourteen cards, fourteen receipts, at four in the morning, after a night out — and then an argument in the hotel lobby the next day about who had what.

One card holds the room. Everyone settles with that person the next afternoon, sober, with a phone calculator. Every group that does this remembers the night fondly. Most groups that do not, do not.

What a Second Visit Looks Like

Almost every group we send goes twice, and the second night is always better than the first.

The first night they take a table on the floor, watch the band, see the rooms from the outside and work out what they actually want. The second night they book the room.

If your trip has more than one night in it, plan it that way on purpose: the floor first, the private room on the last night as the finale. The night in between is the villa pool or the boat, so the group is not doing the same room twice.

The Rules, Which Are Short

Do not photograph other guests or the staff. This is the one that gets a group removed.

Do not touch anybody who has not invited it. Tip the staff who keep your room running. Carry some cash even though the card works.

Dress like an adult — shoes, sleeves. If the same night includes a rooftop earlier, that door is the strict one, not this one.

Where This Sits in the Night

Nobody flies here to spend eight hours in one building.

The night we run starts at a villa pool or on the river in the afternoon, takes in a rooftop and a club table, and finishes in a private room in this club at one in the morning. That order is the whole trick — where a group goes at night.

How We Book It

We are the organiser, not the venue. The room is held in your name, the host is briefed, the van waits outside, and you get one price for the group with VAT inside.
